Hunt Valley Ultimate Frisbee

About

Since 1996, from daylight-savings spring to daylight savings fall, there is a weekly pickup game of Ultimate Frisbee in Hunt Valley.

Currently games are played each Tuesday. People generally arrive at 6pm and play until dark. Anyone can join a game in-progress. If teams get to big, we may start a 2nd game on the adjacent field.

The Ultimate Frisbee games are open to everyone, of all skill levels. Just show up on the fields across from the Oregon Grill on Shawan Rd. Be sure to bring both a white and dark t-shirt.

Rules

Below is a simplified set of rules:

  1. No contact (pushing, shoving, etc...)
  2. No running with the frisbee.
  3. When the frisbee touches the ground or is out-of-bounds, the other team gains possession.
  4. A team scores a point when the frisbee is caught within the goal box area.
  5. A game is played to 10 points.
  6. One person may stand an arm's length away from someone with a frisbee and count 10 seconds. The frisbee changes team's possession if the count reaches 10.
  7. Most frequent foul is if a person is touched when throwing the frisbee and they had not yet let go; in which case it's a "do over".
  8. If more than 1 player is defending someone with a frisbee, no count can start.
  9. Frisbee is "pulled" (like a kick off) at the start of each point. The throwing team waits until they receive a hand wave from at least 2 players on the opposing team.
